Greetings from Bangkok!
All is well and we're almost done with our first day in Bangkok. We landed here 7.40 am this morning but weren't in our hotel until 11 am because we had to queue for a passport check for some time while everyone in the queue seemed to stare at us for some reason... I know we're pale, but still, it felt annoying. Also, it took some time to find our hotel because it's located in a back alley of a back alley... Like seriously, when we took a tuk-tuk from the subway station this morning I thought he was driving us to Mordor or something... he drove us to some tourist information place though, but he did say he was going to drive past that place. We bought our night train and bus tickets from Bangkok to Phuket via Surat Thani from there.
But everyone's been mostly nice, and the weather's hot and humid (oh you should see Laura's hair), so it still beats cold and snowy Finland 6-0.
The only thing I don't like about Bangkok is it's humongous size - it's a bit distressful to realize how small you are, even when you're 1,8m and feel like Godzilla roaming the streets of Bangkok. A man asked me today how tall I was, and he wasn't even Thai, neither was he short. Yet fascinated by my height. But talking about distances, even the small bit on the map to MBK Center where we did some shopping took five minutes by tuk-tuk from our hotel. I could never live in a city this big, it would probably take years for me to memorize the surroundings of my home, not to even mention the anxiety I would constantly feel. It's great to be on a trip with just a friend, but sometimes you miss the safety of your parents, knowing there's no one here to help us if we come across trouble.
Tomorrow we're taking the night train + bus to Phuket!
Toodaloo!

Camilla It's not the size, it's whether or not you feel that the chaos is organized. Tokyo is huge but feels small because the chaos follows a pattern. Good to hear you're safe and sound at the moment - keep blogging!
Jennika Awesome! Ja vill å ti Mordor! Keep blogging & take care, puss!!
Phuket on huomattavasti inhimillisempi paikka. Kuinka kauan matka sinne kestää? Olkaahan varovaisia siellä...onneksi oot niin "jätti" ettei kukaan pikku taikku uskalla ryppyillä;)
laurafreja I think you're right Camilla, it's probably the chaos - e.g. the traffic is insane compared to Finland. Hahaha Jennika de brukar väl knappast vara så svåra matteproblem :D du kan öva ti dina mattaprov hahah Ulla: jepjep :) Ilse: yöjuna kestää n. 11-12h ja bussimatka sieltä n. 4h
