wednesday 30th - Went to the Blue Mountains today! stopped at a wildlife park then had lunch and afterwards we went to see the 3 sisters a group of three rocks which is meant to be 3 girls who have turned to stone. Then we went up the valley further and got a glass bottomed cable car across the valley, a cable car down a very steep cliff, had a walk around the rain forest at the bottom then a vertical train ride back up the side of the valley. was pretty scary at some points.
we then went to a little down called Leura where we wandered round the shops for a bit then found an amazing shop which i plan to live in someday! it was full of everything chrismassy and it smelt like xmas and there was lights and decorations- tastefull ones- and it was warm and cosy, everything i love about xmas, heaven !!!!
we then went to wentworth falls, happy after xmas shopping in april, and we managaed to do a twenty minute walk in 9 since it was that cold. we ran down the 380 steps, took some pics and ran all 380 back up. was sweating like crazy when we got back on the bus definatly wasnt cold anymore!
drove through Olympic village on the way home and caught a ferry back to Darling Harbour. met chris for tea then did laundry and packed and finally fell into bed around midnight. got up at 4 to see chris off then back to bed for a few hours till our early wake up to get to the airport.
thursday 1st MAY - caught the shuttle bus to the airport and checked in. time flew as we were wandering round all the shops, went a bit over the top at the perfume stand though since i havent used any for 6 months and felt sick at the smell of myself for the whole flight. arrived 7:10 into Nadi, Fiji and took over an hour to get through customs, and our bags were all lonely on the reclaim stand - beckys fault though haha she left her Ugg boots on the plane and we had to go back!!
everywhere we fly into there has been rain and yeah Fiji was no exception. it was extremely humid though didnt really matter that it was raining as we were dripping in sweat anyway. found our room dumped our bags then went to find Becky's friend Mark who is doing the Fiji boat trip with us. sat in the bar with a cocktail listening to the band for ages then went to bed.
friday 2nd - awoke and had breakfast then headed into town. got a taxi as the man said he had to go back into town anyway and so he gave it to us for 50 cents which was nice of him. had a bit wander round but got sick of everyone wanting us to go into there shops and look at there things and if we did they'd follow us round watching our every move - it just doesnt make you want to buy anything.
and then right now we are sat in a sweaty internet place with no aircon!!! niiiicccccceeee
bought some water and bits and bobs then got the local bus back to the hotel. which took us along the beach, through some traditional villages, past the sugar cane fields oh yeah and past McDonalds. of all the places i didnt expect a mcdonalds in fiji but yeah theres three apparently!
jumped in the pool when we got back since it was so unbearably hot and we had been sweating buckets in the scanky internet place. had tea with mark and olivia a girl in our room then watched Fracture in the hotel cinema.
sat 3rd - had breakfast then caught a bus to the marina at 7.30 checked in and then headed over to the boat. went to an island called teweva where we stayed at coral view resort.
we had a really traditional bure on the beach made totally of twigs, it was quaint.
mark and becky went snorkelling while i sunbathed in a hammock then we all did a scuba dive, not for long though it was just a taster but was still good. we then had afternoon tea, showered and got ready for dinner. the showers and toilets were pretty gross, and we had to clean our teeth in slat water which wasnt nice but hey at least there was water and we didnt have to pee and poo flowers in a bush.
after tea the workers of the resort sang us a bula (welcome) song and we had to dance and we did a massive conga line. we stayed up chatting for a while then headed for bed.
ooooh and theres an albino fijian who is soooo amazing i couldnt stop looking at him, he had white afro hair and a white black man nose.
sun 4th- woke to the drums beating, announcing breakfast. we had chocolate muffins and fruit. the chocolate muffins were more like brown yorkshire puddings but nice all the same.
we decided to go to a fijian church for the morning - not to pray just as i thought it would be interesting and a few people had recomended it. caught a boat to the neighbouring island and walked along the beach and through the trees to a lean too type shed with a table at the front. the music when we arrived was amazing, all happy clappy and loadsa harmonies going on.
once the music stopped a preacher got up and started talking in fijian was pretty boring since we didnt know what he was saying, a bit more music and another preacher got up and was shouting at the congragation, like proper shouting, he was spraying spit, banging his hands down i got really scared. then this woman started crying really lound and she got worse and worse balling her eyes out and he was still shouting. i hated it, i hate when religion is like that it made me want to cry, i wanted to get up and walk away but he might have shouted evil nasties onto me so i stayed put, but i really didnt want to. more music to lighten the mood then we left caught the boat back for lunch.
mark and becky went scuba diving in the afternoon and i sunbathed on the beach again and went for a swim. had tea, and played cards with cocktails then went to bed.
awoke 4am to a huge gust of wind soaking my face, through the fly screen at the window and the mossie net over the bed. there was a full on storm happening outside, soundeed like the waves were lapping round our hut. woke up again 20 mins later to a drip, drip ,drip so i woke everyone up as we were all getting leaked on. who ever thought twigs would make a good roof - your wrong very wrong!
so the light went on and everyone was sharing beds, or swapping beds and getting their bags off the floor as it was pretty wet.
all for now xxxx
