Well, well, well......have we not just had the 4 best days ever!!!!???
We finally left the hell hole that was our hostel on Wednesday morning and took a 6 hour bus journey down to Singapore or as we like to call it 'Singvegas'!
On our last night in KL we went to this huge mall where the two people that created Lonely Planet (every traveller's essential guide!) were doing a book signing in one of the book shops. managed to get an autograph and some free food which was nice!
We also managed to meet up with Pete (Liz's brother's friend) on our last night in KL and went for dinner with him and a few drinks. He wasnt coming back to Singapore for a few days coz of business but he had left us a key so we could let ourselves in!!! loving it!!!
Arrived in Singapore and got a taxi to Pete's. He lives like 5 minutes drive out of the city in a mint apartment complex with a pool etc... his apartment has 3 bedrooms, 3 toilets, tv, sky, air con, the works!!! Just chilled that evening and enjoyed sleeping in a nice big, clean bed!
The next day we headed into the city and met Pete's flatmate Dave (he was from Hull - isnt everybody!). He showed us some of the sights and took us out for nice lunch which he paid for of course! Nana's you will be happy to know that we spent the afternoon perusing around Raffles and then dropped into the Long Bar for a cheeky Singapore Sling. It cost about 7 pounds but it was well worth it! That evening we went to a night safari which was good until our tram had to stop and we were stranded for half an hour. we later found out that we were stopped because some frickin idiot had walked into the rhino enclosure and been attacked! more fool them...we got a full refund!!! Didnt get in til late and Pete was back from KL so had a chat with him and then hit the sack!
Next day (Friday) spent a couple of hours round the pool and then went to Orchard Road which is like Oxford Street in London. Every shop you could dream of including a Topshop and Marks and Spencers. Singapore as a city is absolutely amazing. Everywhere is so clean, chewing gum is illegal, the people are so friendly and everywhere is so safe. its fantastic and we want to move here - shocker!
That evening we went out for 'a few' and met Pete and his friends after work. Pete had a rugby game the next day so he wanted to take it easy. Likely story! We spent the entire evening wining and dining with the rich and some famous along the harbour front (amazing views) !! Managed to not spend a penny as everyone refused to let the 'travellers pay' - neece one! Scotty, a ginger scotts who ownes one of the only Porsches in Singapore as the value is so high here and Phil Greening an ex-England rugby player who is close friends with Tofty, Lillys hubby and who has also invited us on his boat for New Year in Sydney! he he, contacts!!! It was a great night but had to take Pete home early-ish!!
Saturday we went to watch Pete in his rugby match and was back on it by 6pm.... had a few glasses of wine their before leaving towards the bars in Scottys PORSCHE-yeah ya do. We smiled all the way, but was obviously cool as a cucumber??!! It was a fab night as it was a big celebration for the lads, met (Sian this is for you and Liz, Ben Wheeler, Peter Wheelers son, very weird) also a few others from Hull, one guy used to work in the Green Dragon and could not stop talking about Tower for an Hour!! Yet again we weren't allowed to pay anything - such a shame. Went to some wicked bars before Ministry of Sound - H-mazing! Left around 6am and went for chilli sting raye- nice girls!! Sunday was chilled obviously, went for food and saw a few more of the sights before leaving for our flight to Bali.
We arrived lastnight and staying in a really cute hotel for 3.50 with a pool and brekkie and a welcome drink!! everything is a bonus. The beach is lovely and has a really cool vibe here, the surfing is really big here, which is good however not when you get washed up and looked like drowned rats!!!!
Anyway, we will be putting the photos on very soon. Keep in touch and keep the messages coming.
All our love
