Today, waking up time was 7, since we had to put back our sleeping mats and brush the sand out our tents. Then we drove to a lake that you have to walk about 30-40 minutes to, through rainforest and then over sand dunes. Again, if it was sunnier it would have been a beautiful place to sunbathe at, but this was the only place I didn't brave the cold to go in, despite the walk making everyone feel hot and sweaty (I just hadn't brought my towel). The Irish guys had found a sign that had been turned into a sledge, but the sand wasn't slippy enough to slide down.
Our group was the only one who ha rationed their food enough to provide a decent lunch today, but most people from other groups just brought things from the shops anyway, so we collaborated and just shared everything with whoever wanted it which meant we gained a bit of group C's fruit cake. Me and Alice got to keep the rest of the peanut butter which I was happy about!
Apparently the men we saw yesterday wiping fish over the sand on a string are wormers- you can sell each worm for $1 and can pick up to 800 a day so me and Alice are now considering a career in this!
When we were back in Rainbow Beach we both went to bed (as I'm sure most of the tour also did) but I couldn't sleep.
One good thing was now we had a whole heap of mates who could let us use their showers (since the public bathrooms only had toilets and the showers were in the individual dorm rooms) so Alice used Miriam's and I used one of the English boy's, although I don't think his girl room mates were too impressed at me stealing their shower.
Karaoke was the theme for our after party, and, persuaded by the fact you got a free cocktail if you were one of the first 5 performers, and that it was still early and so less people to witness it, me and Alice went up to do 'Because I got high' by Afroman since this isn't a very singy song. Later on we also did 'Mockingbird' by Eminem with Sui, a girl from Hong Kong, although we didn't get a free drink for that. Rainbow Beach was a bit boring since there was no 'bottle-o' open after 8, and the bars all shut at 12, so we headed down to the beach with what little booze we had left.
