Hi Everyone!!!
We have officially left Amsterdam as of this morning but I finally got some free wi-fi so I wanted to give you all an update!
We arrived in the mid-afternoon a few days ago and found our hostel pretty quickly. No shenanigans occured for the entirety of the trip despite us staying in the red light district. I found it somewhat surprising that there weren't girls in the windows going down the street and was thankful for that misconception. Apparently you have to go down alleys in order to get that sort of entertainment. I say "apparently" as neither of us actually took the time to verify this.
So, for whatever reason, we were both still exhausted but had to wait another hour or so to check in so we ran and grabbed some food and walked around a little. Once we determined where we could get some free Internet, we set out to determine if there was anyplace that would be showing the Sunday football games.
That's right!! We were kicking it in Amsterdam and found ourselves some places to watch us some American Football!!!
Anyways, we got to check in and I'm pretty sure we passed out for a couple hours befor heading out to find a bar.
After a fair amount of hanging out and taking as much of the loud, angry music that we could stand- we went and grabbed some dinner and hit the hay.
And yes, earplugs were required.
Let me tell you one thing- sleeping until 1pm can do wonders or it can really screw you up and we managed to do that two days in a row. That being said, there's plenty to do no matter what so I worked out.
We caught some football after getting a coffee and hung out for a bit. The place
was LOADED with people to the point that it got to be a little too much. We were stuck with the Bills game and a lot of people mistakenly thought their butts acted as windows. We also took a canal cruise to take in some of the sites and get good shots of the city streets from the water. We also saw what is supposed to be the largest floating Chinese restaurant in the world. And then we ate there. That night we met a young bartender named Jordan and chatted with him until closing.
As is the norm when I travel- we also had my day of rain so we used that as our excuse to try and get Internet, update our football picks, grab a souvenier and eat some more. We capped off the evening by dropping back by the pub and saying goodbye to Jordan.
This morning was spent waking up, packing and slowly making our way to the airport. And now I await my next flight!!!
Stay tuned for my reporting on Mykonos!!!
