Prepare yourselves, for another great adventure from the lives of Jana and Jocelyn at... The Heineken Experience!
Our day started fairly generically, we did laundry, which was actually an experience as the Dutch laundry guardian was gruffly ordering us about and telling jokes in Dutch, laughing at herself and singing along, in english, top her soft rock CDs.
Later one of the German boys we had been talking to in the laundry room, came up to me in the lobby to tell me he had found Jana's underpants in the dryer, he was pretty embarassed but mostly I just thought it was funny, when I told Jana she was too embarassed to go find them again so i guess she will have to live without them, a casulty of the adventure!
We then wandered up and down the streets, making friends with Marcel, the hotel attendant down the street, on our way to the Heineken experience.
The Heineken expereience includes such joys as a walk through the brewing tanks, a movement ride/movie, where you get to "be a Heineken bottle" interactive games, free beers, making your own dance remix and creating videos to send to friends and family, which many of you have seen. For other we will attempt to post them on here when we get home.
After our trip through all things Heineken we headed downtown to Wok to Walk for some dinner. We stopped briefly to watch a variety of street performers, including a man riding a mini bike while juggling knives and a bass player stomping on a tambourine playing "My Girl"
We grabbed dinner and high tailed it back to our room as the skies were dark green with heavy winds and about to open up with a storm.
We ate dinner in our room and talked to our roommate Susan, a Kiwi on an 8 month solo trek around Europe. We talked for about an hour when our newest rommate arrived home from his jog in Vondelpark, soaked head to foot, he had been caught in the storm.
We continued to talk to Susan abotu her travels through Spain and Grenada and ours throughScandinavia and then talked to our newly cleaned up rommate Fraser, a Scot in town to prepare for a entry into grad school at University of Amsterdam in the fall.
Fraser headed off to go meet someoen fromt eh University and Susan grabbed some dinner and we continued to talk until Fraser returned a few hours later.
We then all headed down to the pub for a drink to finish our discussions.
After that it was off to bed, with the intention of all having breakfast together the next morning!
