We are here in Malawi, the Landy has been in the garage today having an oil leak in the wheel? fixed and the radiator flushed! I have been wandering around in the sunshine shopping and catching up on emails. This afternoon I went to a local papermaking place were they make recycled paper from old paper plus plant products like banana bark, hessian and elephant dung! which apparently is mostly plant fibres and there is alot of it around so they can make lots of paper! I do have a few photos but as usual they wont download atm. whilst I was there they were hanging so much elephant dung paper out to dry that the wooden supports broke!!! They also make paper from the Boabab tree which is indigenous to the lower coastal areas of Africa. This tree has amassive thick trunk and lots of skinny twig branches coming out of the top, it looks like it was planted up side down, the story goes that God was angry with the tree in the early days because the locals got drunk from the fermented fruit so he picked the tree up and put it back in the ground up side down!!! See culture and history today! I met a couple of guys, one swedish and one from Kenya who work in the Masi Mara so we are hoping to head up there and catch up again, they are heading down the coast for a few weeeks so we recommended the dive sites. Hopefully the car will be fixed in the morning so we are heading off to the national park at the south of the lake to see some animals, elephants, crocs and hippos in abundance apparently.
Oh a quick get well to Jimmy, J.P's brother who has broken his wrist :-( huh any excuse to get the girls to do all the work putting tents up when we meet in September! only Kidding ... hope you get better soon xxx
