Day 1 in Amsterdam: Yesterday was a pretty sick day...literally! We started the very early morning with Hannah being sick, but that did not put us off the busy day ahead. After arriving in Amsterdam it was a short walk to the hostel to drop off bags before heading to Anne Frank's house. The ride on the double decker train was a strange experience as most of us had never seen a train like that in our lives! The trip around Anne Frank's house was a very eye opening one, making the true horror of war very apparent. We were thankful of our pre-booked tickets as the queue was over 3 hours long! Next we visited the Van Gogh museum, learning about his mental illness and admiring his hundreds of masterpieces. We enjoyed the flower markets, however we were shocked that many were plastic. We discovered the love of cheese in Amsterdam with the 3 cheese shops and a cheese museum all on one road. We finished the day with a relaxing yet informative boat ride on the canal. The horrible weather did not take away from the brilliant day we had, roll on day 2!
