After a gruelling 16 hour overnight bus ride, after the driver decided to stop at a bar for a drink at 4 o'clock in the mornin which took a nice 2 and a half hours, we then boarded a ferry for a further 4hours, before arriving in a little slice of paradise that is Ko Phangan. After jumping into one of their dubious taxis (trucks with neither sides nor seatbelts) with around 8 other sweaty travellers plus their rucksacks, we headed out and at each resort we arrived at we prayed that it wouldn't be ours ! We pulled up at Phangan Beach Resort and were delighted with what we found. Cute little bungalows rght on the beach, complete with cocktails, hammocks and most of all, plenty of palm trees. We met up with some English people, two of the boys went to leeds uni and one of the girls lives just round the corner from us in Cheshire, who were staying in the bungalow opposite us and spent the first night chilling out and watching a dvd in the very sociable bar. After topping up our tans on Day 2, we decided to leave Ban Tai, where our resort was situated for the bright lights of Haad Rin Beach, the location of the infamous full moon party which was being held the next evening. We spent a leisurely night with a thai whisky or SangSom served in a bucket with a straw, reclining on the beach under the stars with some nice company from some Aussie guys, who we agreed we would meet up with at the full moon party the next night.
day 3: THE FULL MOON PARTY
everyone woke up xtremely excited for the nights festivities,a and with our hostel providing a free barbecue onthe beach and shuttle buses upto the party, everybody was in a sociable mood and the atmosphere in camp was awesome! Couple of cocktails and a smatteringof glow in the dark rave paint later, we headed off to join 11,000 other travellers for an all night rave on the beach. It was a ridiculous amount of fun, plenty of ladyboys and we managed to last until long after sunrise!
