After arriving back from the full mon party at around 10 am we decided that a power nap was essential for all of us, so after a few hours sleep to recharge our batteries, we decided to plan our next stop with our new extended group. koh Tao famous for scuba diving, coral reefs and crystal clear waters was setted upon, so after a nice meal in Haad Rin we all got an early night ready for the ferry to Koh Taonat 8am the next morning, in the hope that we would be able to find some accommodation when we got there! With the group now expanded to 11 of us, we were slightly apprehensive!
Much to our relief, we were approached by a tout offering accommodation on the pier and as it was listed in our guidebook, we decided that 'the simple life' diving resort was probably a pretty safe option. After a very cramped ferry crossing, squashed between two mn suffering from really bad travel sickness or really bad hangovers (one can never tell!!) we were relieved to finally set foot on dry land!
The journey to the hostel was quite hairaising with all of us, plus our luggage piled into the back of a pick up truck, wit some of us forced tosit precariously on the roof, as we navigated the steep slopes and winding roads of Koh Tao. he island was remarkably different to Koh Phangan, wth steep sided hillsand plenty of forests and trees. we arrived at our accommodation, which was simple to say the least, but at least it had a balcony, which overlooked the sewage drain at the back of our apartment. Undeterred we set off in search of a bit of beach to crash out on.
the resort certainly redeemed itself by nightfall though, when the beach in front of all the separate resorts was converted into a series of nice laid back bars, complete with cushions and beanbags, cheap drinks served in buckets and fire throwers. after a few cocktails, we then headed a little further down to Lotus bar, a firm backpacker favourite, and danced the night away and admittedly, a large proportion of the morning on the sand.
