Today was our first full day in Venice!! We had our walking tour this morning, however, we didnt realize we'd have a 30 minute walk to get to Saint Mark's Square, or Piazzo San Marco, the man at the front desk at our beautiful hotel didnt think it was possible for us to make it on time. He clearly has never met sorority girls who run up and down stairs in heels as a hobby! We ran through the streets of Venice using street signs to find our way, managed to buy a scarf and sunglasses at a kiosky and still get to our tour on time! Take that! Once on our tour we found three Florida Gators, the Gator nation really is everywhere! We loved that because it reminded us of home! St. Mark's Basillica was absolutely beautiful. We learned that the symbol of Venice is a winged Lion representing St. Mark, the wings because he is one of the four evangelists. While on our walking tour, Jackie's sandal broke! Our tour guide was very apathetic, so when we came to a stopping point Smargs and Jackie ran off to a shoe store while I ran off to get 3 water bottles and we re joined the tour under 5 minutes, we were so proud of oursleves! THe rest of the day we spent walking around the city, and eating lunch on the Grand Canal. While passing time watiting for our boat tour, we sat outside a quaint cafe and sipped on wine. Following the boat tour we went back to our hotel and changed to meet up again later for a ghost tour, BUT OUR TOURGUIDE LEFT US!! It was probably a blssing though becuase we were all exhausted and hungry anyways. Jackie helped mend my blistered feet and we went to sleep! Venice day one was so beautiful!
