Day 51 - Sydney
It's grey outside and windy, that's not allowed especially as the temperature last week was in the 30's. Oh well nothing for it; we're only here for four days and one of those we are travelling down to meet Lynda and Geoff so the sightseeing has to go in spite of the lack of sun. Started the day after breakfast by walking back to The Rocks area and onwards to the Harbour Bridge; I'd hoped that I might have the courage to do the climb but after seeing it at closer quarters I knew that it wasn't going to happen, so we just walked across the normal roadway which was quite high enough and moved enough to convince us both that this was sufficient to get a few photos. Walked as far as Luna Park where we then got the train back to Circular Quay. We have brought a Multi Travel Pass so as we are determined to get the most out of it; we then hopped on the first ferry out which took us up into the inner harbour; stayed on until we got back to Circular Quay again and then took another one to Darling Harbour. Our intention is to travel on all of the ferries at least once! We'll assess the weather tomorrow and if it's nice then it's off to Manly and Bondi Beach, if not then this will have to wait until Saturday when we will have to go no matter what the weather is doing. Later we took another bus and strolled around Chinatown and Paddy's Market which sold pretty much anything you could imagine. Walking round the fish stalls is an education in itself with the varieties of fish and shellfish the likes of some I have never even heard of, never mind seen and really wished that we had been self catering as I would have loved to tried some, especially the blue crab which looked fab. We then strolled over to the Chinese Friendship Garden but unfortunately we'd left it too late and it had just closed, typical; have to try and get back there again before we leave. Cockle Bay was next at the end of Darling Harbour; nice load of bars and eateries here for us to try. Just popped back to the hotel for a quick G&T and to write this then out again; think we may do an evening trip around the harbour.
