Okay..... so I have ALOT to catch up on. Like a week ago we went.......doop doo de doo....... to my HOMETOWN!!!! ELY!!!! It was fun because I had to give a presentation on the cathedral with the little microphone thing on the bus while we were driving there.....and I didn't even have to do research! It all came from of the top of my head. It was sad because we didn't get to spend a whole lot of time in the cathedral due to a funeral that we sort of walked in during the middle of. I did get to show them the lady chapel which is one of my favourite parts of the cathedral. Ely is famous for having the biggest lady chapel in England with a seven second echo that makes any sound you make in there sound gorgeous. It was sad because we couldn't go past the nave and into the other parts, but that did give me time to run outside, past the almondry, through the gardens, across th market square, and into the best fish n' chips bar IN THE WORLD which still exists, I'm happy to say. I got chips. Oh man. They were so good. On our next four day weekend, I am totally going back to Ely and spending ALOT of money at Watersides, which is this amazing antique store with many levels. SO. EXCITED.
Later in the week we went to Dover which was fun. I've always really liked it there. This time around after doing the usual (frolicking on the beach with great lumps of seaweed dangling from my hands and singing Irish folk songs.......it's a joke between me and my brother.....), I went into town and ended up buying a monks costume and the most amazing hot pink Christmas tree EVER. ....Spellcheck is telling me that I spelled Christmas wrong...but I totally didn't. What are you offexploring.com people...PAGANS???
Anyway, after that experience we had a Halloween party (oh yeah, OF COURSE I spelled Halloween right) It was fun and we watched Nightmare before Christmas which I know all by heart, so it made me happy.
This morning we went to the Harrod's Christmas parade which was REALLY fun because we got lots of free stuff like antlers and balloons, and jets flew over and dropped these bits of soap bubble which made it look like it was snowing. The best part of it wasn't Santa Claus, but when one of the sugar plum fairy dancer's tutu kept falling down and she would have to hold it and dance at the same time, and just when she thought it was fixed, it would fall again. It was probably really embarrassing for her.....but it made my day, and probably the days of thousands of others.
The coolest thing that happened was that I went to go see Desperately Seeking Susan the musical, and it's my newest favourite musical of all time!!!!! I've always been a fan of the movie, and was kind of scared that I would hate it because Madonna wasn't in it, but the actors and the Blondie music made it about a million times better than I thought it would be. SO GOOD. So yeah....I bought the tee-shirt, latte mug, and poster.... and will may or may not go back and get the canvas tote. They highlighted some things that were famous in the movie like the hand dryer scene and also made Susan's jacket and hat box the same as in the movie. *sigh* I want so badly to watch the movie now.
Thank you Lord for those moments when a pounding headache doesn't matter...like getting to scream the lyrics to every blondie song during the DSS curtain call because you know evey.single.one of them.
