So today........... I want to die. I look completely battered and bruised because, well, I am an idiot. Yesterday, Jen, Rousseau, and I went to a break dancing class at Pineapple dance studios in Covent Garden. It was AMAZING. The best part was when we did alot of high energy warmups in the beginning. They were fast, but pretty basic, so I figured the class wouldn't be all that challenging. We thought everyone else in there were beginners too...... but no. After the warm ups he lines us all against the wall and tells us to repeat after him... well I'm pretty sure that's what he said. We could never hear him because the break dance music drowned him out through the entire lesson. Anyway, so he does this shuffle thing on only his hands and feet all the way across the floor to the other side of the room. I thought this looked easy, and we all did it just like he did. Then he made us do it backwards. This was harder... especially because I was now in front so I had to be able to go fast enough to keep from being stampeded.... but we all did that well too. Next, he starts FLIPPING across the room. . . so we follow. I was actually REALLY amazed at my ability. It's amazing what you are capable of doing when someone is FORCING you to do it. We did alot of really interesting and totally unnatural ground flips and shoulder rolls (which made Rousseau and I SO thankful for having taken combat). Then our little game of follow the leader was finally over and that is when we figured out that the class was for beginners and advanced.... and nothing in between. (I could do some of the things the advanced people could do, like the 6 step and ccs, but then I saw some of the aerial stuff they did and totally lost confidence.) He taught us a routine that I was good at the first 5 times I did it... but after that, my legs wanted to tear themselves from my body and go home. He also tried to make us do some aerial stuff, which I was actually good at, but then he told me to do it only on my left hand...... and I said no. Just no. lol. It was fun, but very tiring. I can't wait to put what I learned in spring sing!!!!
Thank you Lord for things that make life easier, like muscle relaxers......... taken responsibly, of course.
