Hey,
We're still on the Goldcoast - well what can i say!! The hundreds of kids here for schoolies week turned out to be about 50,000!! It was crazy - we went out in the main bit for some dinner and it was mobbed with drunk 16/18 year olds!! They were chanting god knows what and being filmed by a camera crew!! On all the radio stations the hosts are calling it sufferers paradise!! Dave didn't mind the 16 year old girls though!!
We went to Dreamworld today its a bit like Thorpe Park - we got in half price thanks to Dave's McDonalds drink the night before!! (we're eating well here!!) Dreamworld is massive!! Its also home to Australian Big Brother!! We walked through the house and saw the Diary Room and that!! The Aussie house is loads bigger than the English one, they have a swimming pool and gym in the garden!!
There are loads of big rides - we went on the Tower of Terror which is where you get shot out of a hole up about 300 ft then down again backwards!! It was wicked and we went on it three times. Dave also plucked up the courage to go on the Giant drop which is about 100 ft higher than the TOT, it takes you up at a normal pace so you can admire the views. Then leaves you at the top for a minute before suddenly dropping you for 5 seconds off freefall up to 4g force!!! Bloody scary if you ask me and there was no way i was going on it!! Dave liked it though - even if he is scared of heights!! We went on a log flume and got soaked!! I nearly broke my nose by ducking into the seat infront!! Clever eh!!
We also had our second medical emergency of the trip. Dave got bitten....... he was nearly crying in agony. We were really worried as he wasn't sure what had bitten him - we had to hobble to our camp reception, thinking maybe a redback spider had got him. The woman took a look at it and it turned out to be ...................... AN ANT!!! How funny!! If you ask Dave the story he will tell you it was a massive scary ant and tell you of his hours of agony. We've just checked the net and it turns out they can give a nasty bite and cause alot of pain!! (And he's a man so its going hurt more!)
We've been on the beach a bit lately - topping up our tans!! They're getting pretty good now!! Reckon we'll be brown at Xmas!! haha. We got given a body board so Dave's been practising his skills - i've yet to try it as the waves here are huge!! I'm going to wait until we're further down the coast where they're a bit more gentle. We're thinking of trying surfing!! Knowing how well i did at Scuba you can imagine how excited i am about this! But hey ho - got to give it a go!!
We're going to drive to Byron Bay now which is the Hippy Town on the East Coast - so looking forward to that!! We'll update you from there!!
