An early morning rise and we were on the road again. After a short stop at Fragonard for a perfume tour we continued the incredibly amazing drive along the Mediterranean towards Mt Rigi in Switzerland. This had to be one of the best driving days for views as we had the best of both worlds with the blue waters to our right through France, Monaco and Italy (including Lake Como) until we got to Switzerland where the views of the mountains were out of control!
Once we got to Mt Rigi we made our way up the mountain by cog rail (1800ft) to where we were staying. A cute little cottage that felt so homely amongst all the beautiful Swiss hills, cows with bells and we even had some pet chickens and roosters! Dinner was provided for us in the dinning area where all the furniture was completely carved out of wood and felt so authentic. Dinner was amazing and they even served us ice cream for desert with a little Swiss flag on it :-)
After dinner Bronwyn had organized a whole bunch of garbage bags and tin foil so we could have a Zoolander style 'Deralict' party in the bar downstairs of the hotel. We each went away in groups and started on our dress designs and made it downstairs for the party. Everyone's outfits were so impressive and an awesome night was had dancing and singing with the group. The next morning after what was the best breakfast (in particular the fresh bread and croissants) we headed down the mountain on the cable car which had some impressive views. I think the locals thought were where all a lil crazy with the squeals and the 'oh craps' as the drop was quite steep at times. Once down the mountain we jumped on a ferry that took us into Lucern. This ferry trip was incredible. The water was crystal clear and the views of the surrounding mountains and homes were unreal. A sight which you just never want to forget! Once in Lucerne we did a walking tour where Bronwyn took us to see the Lion Monument and then off to the Chapel Bridge and finally Harry's Souvenirs were I picked up a new Swiss Army knife. Then it was free time to walk around and have lunch and time to pick up some Swiss chocolate. Yum yum!! We caught the ferry back to Mt Rigi and the cog rail all the way to the top of the mountain to get some amazing views then it was back to the hotel for some well earned time to relax and pack for the next driving day. We had an amazing BBQ dinner to top off the day and finished off with some more chocolate which was the perfect conclusion to our Swiss experience!
