Off the Spain we go!
What an amazing drive it is from Carcassonne to Andorra! Stunning scenery with hills upon hills. The ski villages would be the best in the winter time and definitely somewhere I would want to go back to one day. We stopped in the town of Andorra for a couple of hour to do some duty free shopping and have lunch. Then it was time to continue on with the drive into Barcelona. We started off with a bus tour of the city where we got out to see the incredible work of the Sangrada Familia then continued on to see the Christopher Columbus Monument and Montjuic, the site of the 1992 Olympic Games. We then headed to our hotel to check in and grab some dinner. First stop for me was the rooftop pool of the hotel. I don't think I could have got changed into my swimmers any quicker! The view from the roof was amazing with a view of pretty much the entire city. After dinner we all headed into town to catch a traditional Flamingo show which was pretty cool, after which we headed down to the beach area for some drinks before Bronwyn had our names put on the door for a nightclub. We had an interesting walk down La Rumblas to the club though. Trying to dodge all the crazies selling crap along the way was insane and even though we were walking in a massive group it still was an experience to say the least. And to make matters worse an unexpecting man dressed as a furry white bear decided to jump out behind me and scare the crap out of me and I will forever be scarred! The club was pretty good, packed with a few sleazes but to be expected here! Danced into the early hours of the morning until we caught the train back to the hotel to get some sleep before heeding out in the morning for a look around at what Barcelona had to offer. Spent the better part of the morning visiting the shops and buying a few goodies before heading the La Ramblas where we all had a tight grip on our handbags (a lovely police man decided to remind us to do so!) we found a few little streets of shops off the main strip and made our way down those before stopping for some lunch in a tiny little Spanish square where we had Tappas and Sangria :-)
After lunch we headed back to the main strip to look through some market stores and make our way down to the harbour. We decided a trip on the cable cars would be nice so we located it on the map and made our way up to Parra-lel. So after much walking up a huge hill were were still yet to find the cable cars we wanted so we just stopped at the lookout instead and took a few snaps. It was quite the struggle street get back down to he station after a non stop day of walking and partying the night before but we got back to the hotel in the end and made our way up to the pool for some much needed rest. As soon as it started to get dark we headed out to find some churros to eat then walked up to the Magic Fountain. This has to be one of the most amazing things I have seen. They were pumping the music and the colours that were coming out of the fountains were amazing. It was packed with people dancing and taking photos and the atmosphere was incredible! After watching a few fountain displays we waked back to the hotel for some much needed sleep!
