I've had an amazing first full day in Canada. Met two people last night in my hostel (Lili and her aunt Mona) and went out for a thai with them.
Then I found out that Lili and a guy Martin (also in the hostel) were planning to go on a tour to Niagara Falls, so I decided to join them. Left Toronto at 10 this morning, got picked up by our tour guide Bart who works for a company called Star tours. He first took us to a Winery called Birchwood Estate on the way, where we got do some tasting. Right up my street drinking at half 11 in the morning! Tried three amazing wines. The first a white, the second a red and the third a white Ice wine. Apparently Canada is where Ice wines originate from and I think the Niagara area is one of the only place in the world where Red Ice wine can be made because of it's loaction and weather. Interesting!!!
After the drink we made our way towards the Falls. Once there the three of us decided to go up the Skylon tower to get a better view. It was bloody cold up there when we went outside but the views were well worth the chill. Then we had free time to mince about Niagara so we went to get some grub. Stubbled across a random street with crazy buildings (Reminded me of like a seaside town with a fun fair type place, random - I'll try to upload photos later this week) Once finished we made our way back down to the Falls for some more photo opportunities, however had to rush a little as our time there was limited.
Once back on the coach we went to a helicopter tour place where Martin decided to get a ride over the falls. I was very tempted, however decided against it in the end. Whilst there, we took a very short journey to a whirlpool in the Niagara river. It wasn't very clear because of the time of year but the views were stunning all the same. After, we went back to pick up Martin and our bus broke down...but luckily there was a greyhound bus close by so they picked us up about 15 mins later. Then we drove along the river to Niagara-On-The-Lake. The houses there were pretty cool. Saw the smallest Chapel in Canada and hung out for a short while to take a look around. It was pretty random but fun. So a pretty jam packed day in all and am tired now, however will probably go out for a few beverages tonight. You know me! Should be going around Toronto tomorrow for my first proper look. Hopefully it will be good!
