Today's my last full day in New York and I've had such a great start to my travels. I have spent a lot more money than I'd originally hoped but it's been well worth it! Apart from getting lost many times on the Subway and in Manhattan and surrounding areas, I have enjoyed myself very much and am still alive to tell the tale!
My most memerable moments of the week are -
Tuesday - Going to a dodgy Irish Pub for St. Paddy's Day with Kristen and Brad and getting free drinks almost every round because the 80 yr old Bartender could never remember what we'd originally ordered.
Wednesday - Wandering the streets of New York (Union Square & Madison Avenue Parks) and going up the 86 floors of the Empire State building to look over the city at dusk. Fantastic!
Thursday - Visiting the World Trade Centre site, exploring lower Manhattan and walking the Brooklyn bridge before getting lost in Brooklyn.
Friday - The relief I felt after walking up and down 42nd for almost an hour and finally finding the Rockefella Centre. Going up the 70 stories to 'Top of the Rocks' - Possibly a better view than the Empire State!!
Saturday - The 2 hour Boat trip with the Circle line Tours on the Hudson River, seeing the Statue of Liberty up close and viewing the Manhattan Skyline from the boat. Also, going to Times Square and the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner before heading into the Village for drinks and fun times with Kristen, Brad and friends.
Today we will hopefully head towards Central Park just to chill out and have a lazy day. I am not looking forward to re-packing my bag but will sort that out later. New York has been fun this week but it's time to move on as I can't wait for Toronto tomorrow.
