Snowy greetings from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It's been quite some time since I last updated my blog. The past few weeks of one-nighters have really made it hard to afford a second to write.
After leaving Savannah we performed in Athens, GA and Pembroke, NC before heading up to Richmond Virginia. While in Richmond, I got to hang out with my friend Jeremy who's getting his Masters at Virginia Commonwealth University.I got a quick tour of campus and we had dinner with two of his friends before heading to the show. That evening was one of many in a long series of understudy/swing performances as we had two male cast members out of the show.Early the next morning the snow began to fall, and by call time there was about a foot of snow in Richmond. Both of our shows were canceled. That evening we attended a wedding reception at the hotel since due to the weather none of the guests were able to come.We had lots of fun and it was nice to help turn a disappointing situation into a good time.
Sunday morning we beat feet out of Virginia, canceled our show in Roanoke and instead getting a jump-start on our travel to Florida. We performed in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi for the next week.During that week Christina went in for two performances as Julia, and then we headed up to Nebraska and Kansas.Kearney, Nebraska was a balmy 12 degrees, but Wichita, Kansas wasn't too cold.During our time in Kansas we said goodbye to a Keith and rehearsed and put in Timothe.
As we headed to Alma, Arkansas the following day I found out that I was going on as Holly that evening. While I had done all of my homework, and had a bunch of help from my cast mates, I hadn't had an opportunity to rehearse any of my scenes with the assistance of management or costumes, even after requesting the opportunity numerous times.Needless to say, it made for an exciting experience. Thanks to the help and support of my cast mates I felt pretty confident and all in all, the show went very well.
After the excitement in Alma, we headed to Waco, Texas. The Hippodrome in Waco was by far the most interesting venue we have played on tour. The width of the stage was about half of our normal width, there was very little wing space, and the doors had to be propped open throughout the show to move set pieces in and out, making the temperature on stage the same freezing temperature as outside. At one point we could actually see our breath on stage.Even though the situation was less than ideal, we made it through and the presenter seemed pleased.
The cast and crew spent Valentine's Day at the La Quita, Little Rock Downtown.I was unhappy to find that they lost my Valentine's package from Sean, but was able to watch the Olympics with Sean via Skype and that made my day a great one.Monday we performed in Marion, IL and Dan went on as Robbie.Yesterday evening we stayed at the Hilton in Madison, Wisconsin and today we're playing Houghton, Michigan.I'm really looking forward to going home to Cleveland next week and then heading east to spend a long weekend with Sean!
