On Friday we had to get up early to catch the bus to Siem Reap. Since most of the day was spent travelling not a lot actually happened. We slept a lot, ate some boney chicken and rice from a street stall when the bus stopped for lunch, jumped back of the bus and read for a bit. Pretty uneventful really.
We arrived in Siem Reap at 15.15 and were greeted with a sign saying 'Samantha Bird' by Randy our new tuk tuk driver (who would be our tour guide for next few days). He took us to the hostel where we checked in and arranged for him to take us to the Angkor temples at 9am the next day (initially we said 8am but he thought we looked tied and could do with the lie in, how nice of him ey!!!)
Having been sat on her arse all day, Sam felt the need to go for a run in the sweltering heat. Safe to say myself and Fran declined and opted to do a spot of laundry instead. Think we has the right idea as Sam looked bloody sweaty when she got back. Once we were all showered we headed to the hostel bar for happy hour and 50cent beers (34p a pint is sheer madness and quite lethal as we were find out in the next day or two!). We had a couple pints, ate at the hostel and went for a walk around town. We resisted the temptation of pub street and opted for an early night instead in view of our trip tomorrow. Rock and roll!!
