On Wednesday we decided we'd just spend the day wandering around Phnom Penh. Our first stop was Wat Phnom which was supposed to having amazing views of the city, unfortunately these were obscured by the trees. After we took a walk along the river before decided that it was far too hot so we stopped off at a posh place for iced coffee. It might have been posh, but they didn't have anything on the menu so banana cake and iced peach tea went out the window.
We continued our walk until we reached the royal palace. Before we got there, we met a few locals who kept telling us "you visiting my palace, you not allowed in dressed like that" (Sam was wearing short shorts!!), so yet another pair of fishing pants had to be rented. You'd think by now we'd always be prepared but no!!
After the palace, we continued our walk heading home, stopping off at yet another local place for dinner, before reaching the hostel. In the evening we had yet more beers with mad Tina, played monopoly deal, Bananagrams, Irish snap and ended off the night with a Skype date with Sharpley. Nice to catch up with home, but I definitely know where I'd rather be right now!!
