Ok so it's been a busy few days.
We arrived in Montpellier Airport on Sunday around mid-day, got our hire car, figured out how to get out of the airport and off we were on our way to Avene'. So glad Mum was driving cause it's all back to front over here and they don't always seem to use there indicators!
Anyway, we made it to Avene', which was about an hours drive or so through hills and along the skinny very windy road (like a tarsealed goats track).
Wow the place is so pretty- TRANQUIL is the right word I think. Everything is really green, open & feels like we are nestled in between hills.
Our apartment complex cascades up a hill and we are at the top & the balcony looks out towards one of the production plants for the Avene' water & down to the pool area.
The people staying here are from all around the world & if you try and speak a little french they are most grateful.
We have meet up with another Australian Mother Patricia & her daughter Nayeli whom are also here for treatment & happened to see Kobi's article in the paper ( they are from Sydney) we normally see them at breakfast & dinner and it looks like our treatment times are the same also.
On Monday Kobi had his first appointment with his Dermatologist DR Christine Paul whom went over everything & all Kobi's current treatments. She examined Kobi then worked out what would be his "Treatment Plan" & then we went off to the Avene' Treatment Centre for registering & his first little water treatments. They explain everything & show you around.
So then Kobi had his first treatments: 1). "Bubble bath" -air bubble bath. 2). General Shower- multiple showerheads spraying water all over the body. 3). General Spray- fine mist spray all over the body. 4). Local Spray- basin with a fine mist tap that sprays the faces.
So basically he LOVED the bath & playing with the toys, then it went pear shaped. He HATED the shower/spray on or near his face and was screaming. I was in there with him & he was literally climbing the walls to get out of the water! Then the local spray on the face- 10minutes OMG was the longest ever!
He was cold and I think that's what made it worse.
After that we were dressed and ready to head straight to dinner.
We filled up our bottle of "Magic Water" on the way out from the Lions Mouth then off to dinner.
He had flared after the treatment & was just out of sorts.
Mum & I "tagg teamed" through dinner & then he fell asleep at the table.
I was DREADING today's first full treatment.
We had breakfast & got ready to head off for our 10am "photo shoot" & treatments.
Photos were taken professionally & it seems Kobi has a "way" with the Avene' staff- they think he's very cute & he talks a little french to them which they love.
We meet Jake & Max in the bath & Nayeli joined us later. We all did our treatments & tried to plan to meet in the park later- weather permitting (but it rained so we couldn't).
Our assistant today was able to change the shower sprays so that they only went half way up cubicle so that Kobi didn't freak out again which really helped, this time I was able to stand back and let him get all the water on him. The little Ducky was a great help and went around the treatments with us so I have asked if they can put it aside each day for Kobi.
In the change room on the way out we meet Mia & her Mum ( they are here again from NZ for Mia's 2nd treatment). Mia is lovely & Kobi & her got chatting. Mia has Princess gloves just like Kobi's Super hero gloves so thats pretty cool.
After today's treatment we sat in the garden at the centre and Kobi got a little treat for being so good then we came back to our apartment & just chilled out.
He was super itchy & all flared again. They say it happens that they flare before they get better. He had a little sleep & then chilled with Nana Viv while I went into Avene' (literally around the road) to buy some balm & wash for him.
It's now started raining & quite cool, there is mist in the hills and I'm sitting here having some "timeout" with a little vodka while I update the blog.
I am so thankful Mum is here with me as things can get overwhelming & it's nice for someone to be able to "take over" and you can have a breather!
I am trying to use this as an opportunity to take Kobi off the medication we have had to use for him to sleep & be "itch free" however I know it won't be an easy path to travel bit hey WE CAN DO IT!
Till the next update XOXO Megan, Kobi & Nana Viv XOXO
