For some unknown reason I popped out of the bed at 7:30 this morning and right into studious mode. I pounded out two papers and read an entire book. Everything is being on slammed on us at one time and I was feeling pretty good about getting ahead. But then I went to class where our exams from Ethics class were returned. 81. Not so bad right? Wrong. When the grading scale pins an 81 as a C its horrible. So here I sit, with 2 weeks left and everything coming at me at once stressing not just about the workload anymore, but about the grade I'm already sitting at with only 2 weeks to pull out a B.
Now that I'm done venting….
At the train station heading back from Dachau yesterday I saw a billboard that read "Alkohol? Kenn dein Limit." Translation please? "Alcohol? Know your limit." If that slogan was on an American billboard, it would more than likely be accompanied by a photo of a tragic car accident. On a German billboard however, you see a picture of four young, attractive club-goers joking over an assortment of drinks. The difference just screamed at me to take notice of the cultural influences on propaganda.
Tonight we had our last group dinner in Munich. We went to a restaurant where the meat is cooked rotisserie style for 3 hours. We had potato soup, pork, sourkraut, mashed potatoes and apple fritters. Classic. We had a bit of entertainment as well. There was a pair of coaster thieves among us. Two little blonde girls were scoping out and snatching all the coasters off of all the tables despite the fact that these tables were full of people trying to enjoy a dinner. But nobody really seemed to care, especially not their parents. Apparently children wandering restaurants and reaching across tables while strangers are eating dinner is no big. I dare an American child to try to pull that one off.
