Now for the daily update…
I warn you its going to be fairly long because I'm elaborating on yesterday and introducing today (not that much excitement went down today). I got smart and realized that I should probably type out my blog on to a Word document then paste it into my blog page due to Internet inconveniences.
So let's go back to our tour from yesterday. We learned that when Hitler first started his shenanigans he was sentenced to five years in prison, but only served one. For anyone who doesn't drink for religious reasons, beer was first brewed by monks and all the beer houses in Munich are named after monks. Oktoberfest (which takes place mostly in September) originated as a wedding reception that the natives (yes, Mother they are actual natives, not natives of Florida) just refuse to let end. Munich's second city symbol (the first is Munich's child in case you forgot from yesterday) is the two towers on a church that I'll have to look up because I forget the name. Its difficult to remember things you can't pronounce or hope to spell. The towers weren't bombed during the war because the Allies used them as landmarks and today nothing can be built higher than the towers. Inside the church is the "devil's footprint." The story goes one of the two designers/architects got angry with the other and stamped his foot leaving an impression, stormed out and was never seen in Munich again. Everyone puts their foot on the footprint hoping they don't match the devil.
Moving on to last night… the Hofbrauhaus is legit. I ordered the Original beer and was served a mug filled with a liter of beer brewed in house. Its no wonder they go through 10,000 liters a day.
Today I was lucky enough to sit inside our room all-day-long reading The Sunflower and working on a group project. We have our first test in Ethics class tomorrow, and a group presentation Wednesday. Thankfully Dr. W pushed our paper originally due Friday to Monday (I believe), but now I'm slammed with the joy of having two papers due on the same day. That day also happens to be the day before we our second test in Ethics and paper due for Intercultural class. And THAT day is the day before we present another group project followed by another paper due the next day. Just thinking about excessive schoolwork bores me enough so I don't know why I'm bothering to take time to blog about it. I realize 'study abroad' obviously entails studying, but seeing as how it cost thousands of dollars to be in another country, I'd like to have more time to actually do and see things in that country. I could've stayed in Charleston if I was going to get to stay inside chained to books. Maybe I just need to come back and be a tourist minus the student part.
