Better late than never....
We departed from Rosslare, Ireland on the Oscar Wilde ferry. The ferry eventually dropped us in Cherbourg, France. The total ferry ride was around 14 hours, so we had a room onboard. This ship was enormous. It was similar to a proper cruise ship (I think) complete with restaurants, movie theatres, etc. We had been staying in some really nice places in Europe thus far, so I guess it was fair that we eventually had to stay in a tiny, uncomfortable room on a ship. By all accounts our room was about the size of a walk in closet. We had a bathroom with a shower, a closet (sort of), a small desk, 1 twin size bed, a small table and a couch that transformed into another twin bed. We even had a window. The sea was much calmer than our trip to Dublin, and the ship was much, much larger, so I didn't really think we would be able to feel it moving. That was not the case AT ALL. We were both tired and filmy from driving a lot so while Scott explored the ship I decided to take a shower. It was really hard to stand up in there. The beds were uncomfortable and the back and forth motion of the ship was strange but we both managed to get some sleep.
The next morning we woke up and ventured out. It was still very cold but extremely sunny so we headed out onto the deck. The sea was gorgeous. There was still no land in sight, but it was so pretty. I thought I would be petrified because of my fear of water and my propensity for motion sickness, but neither really bothered me at all. Eventually we saw the harbor which took us into Cherbourg where our train awaited us. We were finally headed back to Paris for the final leg of our journey.
