¨I hate goodbyes!¨-James Eugene Carrey
Today was our third full day in Sevilla and our fourth night. The weather has been beautiful everyday we have been here, so I really have nothing to complain about. How can you complain when the sun is shining all the time?
However, today was a sad day for all of us. Our German friend Thilo left to go back to Munich this morning. Thilo was a great guy. He was different than us in many ways, he listened to different music for example, but in others very similar. I think that he was most similar to us in that he just wanted to meet good people and experience another culture. Before he left he told us he was really glad that he met us, and the feeling was definitely mutual. He has invited us to stay with him in Germany if we ever go, and we have extended him the same invitation if he ever comes to Canada.
Today was also kind of depressing because our new good friend Leigh ¨The Kid¨ is splitting up from us early tomorrow. He is going to Barcelona and we are headed south towards Morocco. We spent about 10 days with Leigh and he is another person we will definitely not forget as we got to know him very well over the last week and a half. We spent our time together quoting movies like fubar and dumb and dumber, shows like family guy and seinfeld-pretty much what we do at home. The boys at home know these (you oldies may not) but our slogans became ¨You go out, you work hard, and you give´r¨...and ¨Ya thats a plan Farrell (all related to our various travel predicaments).¨ It was almost depressing tonite cause we hardly said a word to each other. But that is the travel lifestyle and as the saying goes (semi tweaked for this situation), ¨It was better to have found travel buddies and lost, then to not have gained a travel buddy (and lifetime friend) at all.¨ ¨The Kid¨ will definitely be missed and we wish him luck in his travels and in life.
Speaking of new friends, we were talking tonite at the bar, over a couple of Heinis, about how random it is that we have made these friends. Its like you see a person at the hostel just sitting down, or cooking dinner, or on the computer and you strike up a conversation and VOILA, they are a friend. I was saying that I now look at people on the street passing by as novels almost. Everyone has a story to tell, you just have to find a way to open up their book and read it (sorry for the sappy pun lol).
So we have decided to stay in Sevilla for another two nights since we could not find much accomodation in Granada or Cordoba. We may be headed to Cadiz on Sunday (crossing my fingers) as the beaches are supposed to be great there and the weather looks to be in the 70´s here.
So Take care everyone, keep putting on your sun block, er I mean toques, and talk to yáll very soon.
