Day three, was a port day and we visited cozumel in mexico. We went on a dune buggy tour with about seven or eight cars. ken drove, the kids thought it was a hoot cause we were getting in the buggies like dukes of hazard. First off we visited a small mayan ruin, then we went to a beach and we had to swim out several hundred metres to go snorkeling. Well that wasn't in the brochure, we thought we would just we put in a boat and taken to the snorkeling. About six people decided straight away that they weren't strong enough swimmers and opted not to do it. I started the swim but my leg couldn't do it, so the guide towed me all the way with his boogy board. That gave him an extra tip. The next day everyone complained of sore muscles in their legs, and I said my arms were sore from holding on, and I got no sympathy. We also went to their crocodile sanctuary, which were much smaller crocs than in australia, and also had a look at an old lighthouse. The two guides we had were really funny and played up to us. They also made us a lovely mexican lunch.
Day four we went to Belize in South America. It's a third world country and very poor. We had a lovely guide and he took us for a city tour, then to altun ha mayan ruins. We couldn't believe how big they were and that you could climb them. More exercise. The humidity was so high and there were so many steps, ah hard work. This was one of kens favorite things as he loves the history. After that we went to a baboon sanctuary to see the howler monkeys. At this time it started to rain, and there were two tribes of monkeys so they were being quite dominant and wouldn't come lower into the trees, but we did get to see them. Our guide took us to a local restaurant for a traditional Belize meal, it was rice n beans, bamboo chicken, and a fruit like a banana that you grill. Really yummy.
