Finally got my luggage on Tuesday, so went and visited a Queensland winery called Sirromet. Its only been operating since 2000 but the wine is really good - as I got in a tasting. Yesterday I was co-opted into going with my cousin Shelley to her daughter Zali's school to help with the reading groups. It was quite interesting and I couldn't believe how far behind they seemed for 7 (bearing in mind in Australia they don't start primary until 6 so are really only in primary 2 at this age). The teacher asked me to give a small talk on Scotland, which was really embarrassing. I ended up talking about how cold it was! Its been raining in Brisbane ever since I arrived and its been pretty cold as well. Its well overdue here though as the dams were sitting at 16% capacity. 4 minute showers are the order of the day.

So, yesterday I decided I would take up a family friend's invitation and now I'm in Melbourne. Its totally different. Much more like the UK in weather and quite a lot of English influence evident. And there's sunshine!!!! Took some photos this morning in Brisbane city centre and hopefully take some more soon and load them on!
