We wanted to go into one of the Wildlife sanctuaries that is on the way to the coast. We stoped in Kalpetta and organized one day in the wilde! the bus dirve there was crazy but the place that we came to was great!
When we arrived we went on a jeep safari. We saw some animals like deer, wilde pig, bison, but no tiger or elephant, but the guide was good and explained what we could expect since the rain season is not yet finished the animals wanders longer into the sanctuary and are not so often seen.
The reason why we went and lived at the sanctuary was so that we the next day could walk in the sanctuary. The next morning we were up early and started the walk with seeing some domesicated elephanst, then some fresh droppings from a wilde elephant, and then some fresh tiger marking... all these signs that the animals at least exists in the forest somewhere. We also saw some deers that day. We made a stop and had some not voulantery meeting with leeches that sucked our blood... discusting insects. When we reached the road again we met a lot of jeeps on their way out and they said that it was a group of wilde elephants near by! Our guide took us to the place and there they were :-) Perfect! It made the leeches okey. We watched them for a while and when we the jeep tried to get past them they run after the car, a bit scary, but very much worth it!!
