We took the train to Ernakulam and then the ferry to Fort Kochi where we found Princess Inn which was our home for the next four days.
The city is big but divided into smaller areas which are easy to walk around. The first evening we went and saw a performance of the local martial art which was interesting. The place was ruled by the Dutch, the Portugese and the Britts, so the arcitechtur is mixed and interesting.
Next day started with rain, but we walked around for a while anyway, doesn't matter so much when it's so warm. In the afternoon I had to take a short stop at the doctor, got some pills and nothing serious, but we took it easy the rest of the day.
Cherai Beach was the goal the next day, after a little longer trip than expected we arrived and had our first day at the beach. The beach was okey, but not great. On the way back we went all the way to the train station in Ernakulaum for the train tickets for Goa... we arrived in the middle of a rain storm and found no tuk-tuk so we walked the 2 km in pouring rain... but at least we got tickets to the only direct train from Kochi to Goa every week, so the mission was succesful :-)
The following day we went to an elephant training senter and saw the elephants taking a bath up close, which was a great experince! The training senter in itself wasn't anything to talk about. Since we had gotten up so early we had a rest in the midle of the day, before we signed up for cooking class in the evening. So we learned to make traditional vegitarian keralan dishes :-) The food was excellent and we have started to buy some of the spices so we can make it at home as well :-)
Our last day in Kochi we spent walking around the jewish part of town, and a significant part of the day in Kashi, our new hengout place!
What I didn't mentioned before that we were at a place with several places with excellent coffee, cake and tea, and we had a lot of it! :-)
Now we will spend a week in Goa, relaxing at the beach.
