Well we have went full circle and how we are back in Bangkok. But I'll rewind a little and go back to Luang Prabang. We had an early start as we had to take a boat for 8 hours up the Mekong river. The boat was basic but cool. We arrived in Pak Beng just in time for their electricity coming on (they only get electricity from 6-10 morning and night) so we went for tea and headed to bed. The next day was another 8 hours on the boat up to the boarder. Once back in Thailand it was 4 hours on the bus to Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is one of the best cities we went to because we got to go to the elephant sanctuary!!
The elephants were amazing. You could go so close to them and feed them. Me, Nicola and Vicki went to see the baby elephants, one of them was only 28 days old. They were really playful and always trying to eat your hands. Then we went to the first every elephant hospital. There are 2 elephants there who both have prosthetic legs! Motala was the first, she stood on a landmine and had to walk down the side of a mountain for 2days before getting help. It took 70 vets to perform the operation to save her. Theres also baby Mosha who also stood on a landmine. Theres also an old elephant who has to stay at the hospital because he's losing his memory.
So last night we got our last sleeper train back to Bangkok. We've got a night here before we fly to Oz tomorrow so we are ahving a group farewell tonight.
The next time I write I'll be in Oz. How exciting! big love Kirs xx
