Hello!
So we have just arrived in La Paz from Sucre which was great even though we were only there for a day! we seem to be moving around so much but there is still so much we want to see so its worth it i think for the moment.
To start off with we left Potosi and were told it was really easy to get a bus from there to Sucre so we just caught a taxi down there and when we got out of the taxi we were HOUNDED by people trying to take us to sucre! it was insane. they kept trying to take our bags and im like NO NO NO! haha. we ended up picking a car which would take us for less and drop us straight at the hostel. we had a small problem when they were trying to tell us that if we wanted all 3 seats in the back we had to pay for them all! so we were paying $30 bolivianos (about $6) for the 3 hour ride and were like no we dont want to pay the other seat BIG MISTAKE! next we know we have this ENOURMOUS lady in the back with seb in the middle, and her kid in the boot (wagon). great idea seeings as the girl gets carsick and so half hour in gets in the back with us and sits on her mums (and sebs) lap while she spews into a bag and her jumper and everything else... great 3 hour car ride... BUT we got there safetly which counts for something i guess!
So we arrived at Sucre in an awesome place, we had booked a twin room but they put us in a room for three (but without the third person) so the room was huge! we had a great bathroom too. So we walked around town and booked a horse riding tour for the next day... during this i had a bolivian mojito which is a normal one but the mint leaves are replaced with coca leaves... mmmm.
we went to the fresh food market and bought lots of yum fresh veggies and fruit which we were SOOO excited about cos we hadnt had any for 3 weeks or so! went back and used the kitchen to cook them and some rice thing we have eaten here... we cooked it wrong though and it ended up all gluggy, hopefully we can work out how to cook it! i had also bought a baby bottle of chives regal for under $10 AUS so i drank that mmmmm. we cooked and made some friends at the hostel, there was a girl and a guy from England, 2 Aussies, and 2 guys from Isael and later we all decided to go out. it was good cos i dont like to venture out unless we are in a big group! so we headed to this 'Why not Shisha' place where we had some more drinks and a Peach Shisha, then moved on to this local party which was fun, and then went to Joy Ride Where alot of the locals go. it was so much fun hanging out with other Aussies! i have forgotten how much i like hanging out with Aussies and the Aussie humour haha. so we got home at about 230am, and had to get up at 8am or so the next morning for our horse riding!
We get to the horse riding and they dont give us helmets, but they know i have NO experience so thats ok. besides the fact that the guide speaks only Spanish hahaha. lucky seb has riden alot before! i had a horse named Nuevo and he was awesome, just followed the one in front of him, which was great until the guys in front started galloping and im luck CRAP IM GOING TO FALL OFF!!!! but no i succeeded in holding on tight and getting through the galloping, twice!! was very happy with myself haha. it was so nice going round the country and looking at the beautiful sights on a horse... i had heaps of fun. besides the fact that i got incredibly sunburnt (it was cold but i guess cos we were up high and stuff) at least the sunburn isnt on my back, otherwise that would suck cos i wouldnt be able to carry my stuff! we met some cool girls on the tour too which was good, 3 germans and had drinks and some dessert with them after the tour.
we had booked our bus to La Paz the previous day so at 630 we headed to the train station and bumped into some guys we met doing the mine tour in Potosi. they are headed to La Paz in a couple of days and are saying they are going to do some 3 day ice picking tour or something so i think we might cut some stuff out of our itinerary and try that! not that we know much about it but it sounds fun haha.
the bus was good, cama so fully lying back in comfy seats (required after our 4 hours on the horses!) and just got into La Paz now at 7am Sunday morning. i think one of the best buys for me is my sleeping bag and my eye mask! use sooo often. my sleeping bag is the best and i never get cold in it which is saying something for me! so im glad i forked out the money to get a good one! shanes pack is also going really well... i bought another lock to lock up the main part, not that i have anything there to steal anymore haha. going to try to get to a police station sometime soon to make a statement about the stuff i got stolen so i can claim it back.
ok well here goes La Paz! meant to be crazy and heard some horror stories, the good things though is that we know what NOT to do from the horror stories! will try again soon to upload more photos but its hard on the computers here, not all of them will take the photos/camera cable etc.
