We absolutely love Hoi An!
.. so we' ve stayed here a few days longer than planned. Ok, the main reason is because we spent a lot of time going to the millions of tailors that are here . It's been a lot of fun, and we've ended up buying too much tailor made clothes.. some very successfully, other less.. But we're happy anyway! And we met some nice locals at the same time.
There are even more lanterns than tailors here (and that actually says a lot), the old town is packed with so many colors which gives the city a great atmosphere. B-E-A-utifull! :) So we've been walking the streets so many times that the tailors even noticed: "I saw you yesterday, walking up and down. You were wearing the same clothes as today!" (ups..) We also visited the local market several times, and there's a lot going on there, and everyone tries to sell you something ALL the time. (And it smells fishy)
Yesterday we decided to take a cooking class, because the local food here is delicious(!), (the wine and coffee are however not). So we went to this restaurant that is in Lonely Planet and said we wanted to do the cooking class. We went in to the kitchen and damn(!) it was dirty there. We still can't believe that they actually let people in there. The floor was wet and dirty from the shoes, and they were making some of the food on it. Then we started the cooking, oh no wait.. They started the cooking and we watched and took notes. Yeah, it's not what we wanted! Maybe we'll try it again in Hanoi.
Today we rented bikes to go to the beach. We were a bit anxious to bike here with this traffic, but it was fun, and a nice trip. The beach was nice and quite similar to the one in Nha Trang with big waves! When Tina went for a swim she had to walk for like 5 minutes to get back to where Kine was, because the currents were so strong. A girl that was selling bracelets and stuff sat down with us for a while and chatted a bit. The people here are really friendly, and when we say that we don't want something the usually stop asking. And they're actually wearing those hats (on the picture), so great!
Vietnam has been the best place so far on the trip. Tomorrow we'll be taking a 17 h(!!) long bus drive up to the capital, Hanoi. We're not looking forward to it, and are quite sick of buses..
Until next time!
