We're freezin' our asses off!
After being on a bus for 20 hours we arrived at the capital exhausted and went straight to bed (at 10am). Our first (and 2nd) impression of the city was not too good, and it reminded us a lot of Phnom Penh (just a lot colder!).
After a goog night of sleep we went for a walk and the impression was improved a little (but we still not the biggest fans). We went to a lake and found a bunch of (mostly local) people surrounding something and taking pictures. We were wondering what was going on and asked a couple (tourists) if they knew. They didn't, but then the guy saw a crocodile sticking its head out of the water!! We slowly backed away..
After talking english with the couple for like 10 minutes we found out they were from Sweeden. Somehow we kept bumping into them everywhere we went, and we found out that we're taking the same flight to Laos tonight. It's wierd how we keep running in to the same people in different cities and places all the time.
In the evening we went to the Water Puppet Theatre, which shows traditional music and dancing (puppets dancing). It was more fun than expected and a nice way to see some traditional stuff. We came here mainly to go to Halong Bay, but the fact that it was so cold and raining we first decided not to go.. then we changed our minds because we were afraid we would miss out on something. We wouldn't have. We don't think you can't find a more touristic and unauthentic place in Vietnam, (the caves we visited had a kind of lightshow inside). Maybe it would have been nicer if the weather was better (warmer), but we just got a feeling of being back in Norway.. Which we don't want to be just yet.
Tonight we're flying to Laos, and we're looking forward to get back to some warmer weather and leave this traffic-crazed city behind.

Kine & Tina Correction: We found out that it wasn't a crocodile.. it was a turtle. Same same, but different..
