Hello Everyone, blog no 1 at last! After a rocky start to our trip we have had a great 5 days here in NYC. We were bumped off our flight to London and had to fly to NY via Chicago which was a 5 hour delay to the original time we were due in. BUT we got compensation for this, got to go in the business lounge and upgraded on our flight so it wasn't too bad! Although by the time we got to our hostel we had been up 24hrs so we were knackered!
NYC is amazing and we love it. Have seen all the famous sights - Up Empire State, Up Rockefeller Centre (great views at night!), Statue of Liberty, Times Sq (which I love), walked over Brooklyn Bridge, cycled round Central Park and been to Macy's and Bloomingdales (despite Phil's protests!). Last night we did a harbour cruise and watched the famous Macy's 4th of July fireworks. They were pretty spectacular! Of course we had a few bevvies too but it was Independance Day so we had to join in with the celebrations!
Everyone here is so friendly and always want to help when they see struggling tourists trying to get to grips with the subway system for example! Phil actually managed to master this though and he knows his way round NYC pretty well which for him and his sense of direction is amazing! Have eaten lots of nice food too, but only 2 meals a day as portions are HUGE! Phil had a big fat steak for his first brekky! Not had any doughnuts though (or seen a cop eating one Mike!).
We are leaving New York tonight on the overnight Greyhound bus to Niagara Falls, the Canadian side.
That's all for now guys, hope you are all well
Love us X
