Kim and Hayley's Excellent Adventure
Hello...................
Well we finally got over the adventure to Machu Picchu... although you wouldn't think we had the amount we brag to everyone we have met since...............
But we had to leave Peru..... all very sad as Kate the Aussie was heading North and we had to head south to Chile....................
A few teary goodbyes later and we were off again, just the two of us, which was weird as we had been travelling as part of a group for about 4 weeks......... back to the same old nonsence conversations and stupid eye spy games.... and on a very old bus, which was extreemly hot, like i now know why dogs should not be left in cars, we almost passed out from the heat it was unreal, 'oh' but not happy with that, when we finally did get to sleep the air con came on and froze us.......... Peruvian travel mobiles... you gotta love them!!!!!!!
So we reached Tacna, the boarder of Peru and Chile..... 14 hours later, and decided not to catch another bus down to Santiago and catch a flight insted................
So after a month and a half in spanish speaking countries you would think we could ask a taxi driver to take us to the airport eh??? obviously not as we arrived at the bus station.... more than a little confussed....... bundled into another taxi which drove us over the boarder and into Chile................ 'oh' he also most definately said that it would only cost 50 soles.................... hummmmmm a lovely conversation later and he ment 50 US dollars......... no cash point around and at the newest airport i have ever seen... an airport so new it was being built, we had to wave a very sorry hand to the taxi driver and send him on his way with a very big handful of shrapnell...... woops!!!!!!!
So in 4 hours we managed to take off and land 4 times.... yep 4 times!!!!! but we finally made it to Santiago..... the most friendly city in the world!!!!!!
We stayed in a cold part of town surrounded by universities.. so cheap beer (always thinking) and managed to meet the kindest Chillean people on our first night. Fa and Joseph. They totally looked after us... actually is was quite funny as Fa was Italian and kept saying her father was very important in Chile... hummmm mafia connections??????? not really sure, but this girl knew everyone and everyone knew her, and we only went into a bar if we could sit down, i mean in a bar and you have a witer and popcorn.... yep popcorn with your beer....... or free sushi.... i mean what is that all about?????? Definately something that need to be brought over to england!!!!!!!1
So a few days later, and Fa and Joseph had given us a guided tour of the city and best bars around........ Bless them a big thank you to these guys who really did show us the chilean spirit and look after us totally!!!!!!!! Thank you !!!!!!!
So a rather long 13 hours later and we arrive in New Zealand.............. great fun, as Kimmy tried to order a Macdonalds meal in spanish while the girl looked at her with confusion, well it was 4am........ 'oh' and not content with that its taken us 3 days to stop saying 'Ola' and 'Gracias'......... but i think we may be there.
So we are in Auckland, ready and waiting to go surfing tomorrow up North New Zealand....... Had a brilliant time here already though, as we went out on a boat two days in a row, as the first day we were supposed to see some marine wildlife, and a couple of dolphins later and nothing else apart from the America's Cup Boat without a rudder and the guide told us we could come back the next day and he would try and get us to see something exciting for free.... best part of it was they fed us all day as well.... so, like a shot we were back the next day and thank goodness we did as we only saw a pod of Orca come though... Killer Whales ... a pod of them..... the first pod they have seen this year and just beautiful......... only an hour before we had seen millions of dolphins and it was like fireworks.... ahhh.....woooo.....blesss......how sweet.... and then the next thing we are ' wheres the dolphins.... i want to watch the Orca feed!!!!"
Had a crazy experience in a human sling shot!!!!!! yeah............ for those of you unaware of how bad my height phobia is well this really tested me, as we sat, me Kimmy and a mad Aussie guy, in a human hamster cage thing with Bungy jump ropes attached to either side, and then catipulted into the air reaching 200+ kph.......... rolling upside down, and all over the place............. 'yeah.... great fun"..... Kims first word when we finally reached the floor was.... 'arn't you glad you did it????" huimmmmmmmmmm glad i'm still alive more like!!!!!!
So thats about it for the moment, we have just discovered the free food shelf in the kitchen and having a field day, and the tomorrow we finally get our feet wet!!!!!!! really excited about that one!!!!!! yeah..............
