Fraser Island - Sand Island
Today we woke up late and the walked down to the pool and sunbathed until lunch time.
After lunch everyone went on a 4x4 trek across the island. The 4x4 wasn't really what I was expecting; it was the front of a truck the back of a bus that had somehow been joined together.
We later got a bus escorted by an expert local guide who took us to Central Station where we went for a walk through the jungle. In the jungle there were crystal clear lakes where you could see straight down to the sand underneath.
We then went to Lake McKenzie which was amazingly gorgeous, literately like paradise, the sand was so white and the water so clear, although a little cold. Apparently the combination of the sand and water is meant to be smoothing and good for your skin, we rubbed the sand in our hair and on our skin and washed it off with the water and it actually seemed softer however I am sure it was psychological.
We had cakes and drinks at the lake and then went back for dinner. Before dinner we watched the sun set over the ocean and got some amazing views. The view was so pretty and watching the sun go down was very relaxing.
We went for dinner in the sand bar where I had chicken parmajan. This was slightly over cooked but still nice. It was one of the girls birthdays so some of us partied, any excuse.
