Fraser Island to Rockhampton, Country Homestead
Today we woke up very, very early as we had to catch a 7:15 ferry to the main island. We had breakfast provided for us first which was actually very nice, a full cooked breakie.
We travelled north to a farm just outside Rockhampton. Before we arrived we stopped in a couple of little country towns which was quite nice to see how Australia worked other than in the big cities or tourist towns.
The farm was in huge, acres and acres, and was family run there was the parents and then two sons who each had there town areas of land which apparently took around 1 hr to get between them all. The family we were staying with were really nice they had two kids; a girl and a boy. There was a designated area for us which was like a huge barn with rooms off the side.
They took us on what was meant to be a hayride round the farm, not something I was looking forward to as hay sets off my hay fever big time; however, luckily for me their tractor was broken so it was just a ride not on hay bails.
We then had a roast beef dinner which was surprisingly really nice; I actually ate some beef and potatoes :). Pudding was chocolate cake and because it was also Laura's birthday, after we had sung happy birthday to her we got some birthday cake too.
After dinner I went for a shower but it didn't last long as there were two huge spiders very close to me.
Later in the evening we were taught how to 'crack the whip' which was very hard to get the whip make the loud sound a lot like thunder. I managed to get mine to make a bit of noise but nothing like the dad. Mine was like somebody clapping rather than a thunder clap.
At night we all started drinking to celebrate Laura's birthday and sung karaoke and danced the night was hilarious with renditions of the common songs, I got up with Rachael and sung Uptown Girl.
