Cairns
Today I didn't do anything much except a SKYDIVE!!!!!!!!!
Yes you read right; I jumped out of a plane at 14,000ft, you must be mad!! I hear you cry and yes I probably am but it was the most exhilarating and best thing I have done in my life.
We first went to the office where we had to sign away our life and get a safety video pay etc. Then we had a wait of what seemed like forever for the guy to come pick us up to take us to the airfield. At this point I think most of us started to feel rather nervous.
Eventually after what seemed like a life time although was probably more realistically no more than 20 min we were on our way to the airfield.
Once we got to the airfield it was a very smooth transition which didn't really give you enough time to be scared. First we were put in our harnesses and then we were on the plane and within minutes cruising at 10000ft. On the way up the guys try frighten you telling you that this is their first jump or you're missing a section etc. Then when we were up to 14000ft they opened the door which was like a rolling door of a warehouse and people just started falling out!! We were last and at this point there was no backing out!!
We climbed our way to the door and sat on the edge. I had to wrap my legs under the plane and cross my arms as I was 1/2 out then all of a sudden the guy pushed me and I am falling to the ground at a huge speed.
The feeling as you are falling was amazing you can feel the wind rushing through your hair and face and you can see the ground and clouds below seeming so far away but coming closer by the second. I didn't feel scared at all once I was out there, just a strange sense of calm and amazement.
Then the guy pulls the parachute out and we kind of lift back in the air and are back in a vertical position. Then we just slowly floated to the ground at this point you can take account of what you have just done and at the scenery around you which was truly gorgeous.
Once we were floating I kept asking where everybody else was as I couldn't see any other people or parachutes however they were quite a lot further down than us and were just tiny coloured dots.
As we were the last to the ground we had to hurry down so he pulled the parachute down one way and we twirled and twisted very fast which seemed to get us down to the bottom much quicker.
When we got to the bottom everybody else was all packed up and ready to go we all hugged thankful that we were all down to the ground without any issues and were driven back to town.
I just walked around the shops for a while and went back had a shower and got ready to go out.
For dinner Becca, Rach and I went to Dundee's on the sea front as we got told they did kangaroo.
We actually ended up sharing a platter and all tried kangaroo, crocodile, barramundi, buffalo and emus.
The kangaroo wasn't as nice as I was expecting the crocodile was really tasty the buffalo tasted a lot like beef surprisingly and the emu sausages tasted good but I'm not sure if that was just because they were made into sausages. The best part was definitely the barramundi which was the nicest dish ever.
We also had a main course and pudding which were equally amazing!!!!
After my best day I think I need some sleep.
