Day One of the Jungle Adventure.
Our day started with an hour flight from Lima to Cusco (where I am back now) we didn't then get of the plane but stayed on for another hour to Puerto Maldonado. Taking a major hit of heat of exiting the plane here. As always on this trip we are met by our travel agents man and here helps us to a bus for the short journy to the Rain Forest Admin Center. There we do some lugage juggling lealing behind what we don't need and then taking to the bus again for a 40 min ride on dusty tracks to the boat on the river.
Here we have some small native style shop to top up on anything we might have forgotten but we didn't need to do that. So on to the narrow boat for the river trip of about 90mins stopping on the way not only to catch any wild life along the bank but also to get out passport stamped for entry into the special nature reserve. The wild life we saw included Capibrara in the image, some birds I couldn't hope to recall the name of sorry.
That boat ride really set us up for the experiance and this was only added to as we were shown our room. No electic lights only candles, the touch we had taken and cold water showers !! (we choose that as a cost saving but it's still as cold). The doors were cloth and the walls and floor were mainly bambo construction. The one wall of the room was totally open to the jungle and a hamock swung in a neat position but to be honsest we could have made use of two of those.
Going back to the main lodge I was a bit miffed at learning that WiFi was avalible but in the grand scale of things it mattered not. Many side serices were available to order including massage, mud baths and even something call the shaman experiance ( for the hippy in you I suppose).
The meal that night was very welcome, god knows what it was but the was rice in their somewhere and it went down and didn't come back up which is another step to be ticked off the list. Fruit, water and Mate De Coca (look it up) along with coffee and all sorts of tea where always on tap. The bar was also there for drinks at an extra cost or Ice cream which we filled up with (not the drinks).
I'll add more tomorrow, might be fully adjusted by then. I'll try and up load some more images now. BTW not bothering with spelling so excuse please.
