Ireland is a beautiful country if you already have not seen this, to prove it I went to the Aran Islands, and the main Island Inis Mor. I went there over Friday and Saturday night and stayed with a couch surfer Valentina from Italy her roommates Lancelot from France, Natalia from Chile, and Hilal from Turkey. I swear I am gonna meet everyone on this planet by the time I am done. I love it! I stayed with CS Colin Thursday night in Galway which is just an amazing city then took the ferry to Inis Mor Friday. I left Galway without my rain jacket because the weather had been so nice and I was in shorts and flip flops. When I arrived on the island it started to rain, ahaha what luck… the irony. I met Valentina and her mates at a pub one of four on the island of 2,000 in the summer 800 in the winter. We walked back in the rain and that was loads of fun let me tell ya it was about a mile and a half to the bar form her place. We all had fun with it though. Then we went out later that night again, but with rain gear on and that was funny.
Saturday, I got up and nobody else was up yet and decided to walk the coastline, and the house was right on the coastline… just amazing. So, I grabbed a raincoat just incase ahah and started to walk and their dog followed me. We walked for about two miles of coastline then turned around back towards the house. This walk was just amazing the ocean/coast/farmland, you cant beat it. As we walked everyone thought I was a local because you see horse and buggies pulling tourists and one took a picture of me with the dog… ahah that was kinda funny. I must have blended in well.
When I got back to the house others were up and we talked for a bit then I biked down a different coast to the cliffs and man were they scary. These cliffs are about a good 200-300 feet up and scary, but looked incredible. Later that night Hilal, made a traditional Turkish dish, Turkish meatballs, Turkish bread, and noodles it was amazing. I took a bunch of photos and a video. We where listening to Irish music and Hilal, Lancelot, and myself were dancing …and cooking… and eating… and it was awesome.
Then I took the ferry back to Galway yesterday met up with Colin again and his cousin. We met at a traditional Irish bar and there was an amazing fiddle player that I took video of and hope I can post it. Today, he and I are going out on the town bird hunting and gonna meet up with another CS from LA she is cool. Then tomorrow I board a bus for Dublin then a plane to Madrid where I will be staying with Olaf.
Its been good craic, this means fun.
