Kevin and Joannie on tour
Our last full day in Malargue, we booked a guide to take us to Volcan Malacara. It is about an hour's drive towards La Payunia. We met Monica, our guide, there and then drove a couple of kilometres to the cone.
Volcan Malacara is a hydromagmatic volcano created when the volcano erupted under the Laguna Llancanelo many years ago. It had swirling passageways that made you feel as if you were walking in to the very heart of the volcano. The gullies were over 30 meters deep. It's well worth a visit but photos and words don't do it justice.
On our way back we visited the planetarium for a show. it was amazing, in 3D (without silly glasses) and the kids in the audience loved it when huge planets came hurtling towards us. There was a moment when the graphics made us feel as if we were moving, not the pictures, like the Enchanted Swing at Blackpool. (Fond memories of Joan's father who put a 50p coin on the cradle in said ride to show we weren't actually moving.)
Being the last night, we ate out and watched the local young people squatting by the roadside, smoking and drinking Mate.
