Had to change hostels this morning so loaded everything up and walked 5 streets up to the next hostel where I would be meeting the rest of the group in the evening. Couldn't check in until 15.00 so left my luggage with them and headed off downtown for my helicopter tour. Took ages to get down to South Ferry as a lot of the subway lines were closed for maintenance over the weekend. Luckily I'd set off early so I made it on time for the tour. I had to go through a safety briefing, put on a lifebelt then myself and 5 others were led out to the helicopter. I was sat in the front so got a really good view as we set off. We headed towards the Statue of Liberty first and flew right around it, getting a good view from all angles. Next we flew down the Hudson River going slowly past all of the Manhattan skyline. The pilot talked to us whilst we were going along, pointing out various buildings or points of interest. We flew past the Intrepid Museum which has Concorde parked outside it and past the pier that the Titanic was meant to come into port to. Really enjoyed this tour and hopefully got some good photos from it.
By the time I'd finished the helicopter trip the weather was starting to turn and rain was forecast for the afternoon so I decided to do some shopping and find some indoor things. I went to Macy's first and rode up and down on the original wooden escalators. After Macy's I wandered back towards Times Square stopping in various shops along the way but the rain had really started coming down now so I headed back to the hotel to get checked in and ready for the group meeting at 19.30.
There are a total of 13 in our group plus the guide/driver. There's 4 Brits, 2 Australians, 1 Pole, 1 from Belgium and 5 Germans. Everyone seems friendly and after the meeting a few of us went out for dinner and a drink before getting back ready for the 9am start tomorrow.

Dad Helicopter trip sounds awesome Kendra. Looking forward to seeing the photos. Sounds like an international mix on the trip. You seem to be moving from state to state quite quickly at the moment are you having time to see the sights?
