Where do I begin? I'm writing this 2 days later so my bad. We woke up with plenty of time and got ready. We walked to the bus stop to catch the 7:25 MegaBus. That goes without a hitch. After the 3 and a half hour bus ride, we were ready to hop on the Gatwick Express which is a train that runs right from Victoria Station to Gatewick Airport. They run every half hour so weren't in a rush. I had purchased the tickets with my credit card, but I didn't know which one. We give the worker the confirmation number and he says he needs the last 4 digits of my credit card number. Since I don't remember, I just guess which one I used. Clearly, it was the wrong one because he shoots me a dirty look and says that's not it. Alrighty, I give the second one which I know is right one. He seems highly skeptical of me but eventually gives me the tickets. We decide we want the 11:15 train. It was 11:12:53. So we get there quickly and jump on. No stops so it's an easy ride. We get to Gatwick around 11:45 ish and we realize check in does not open until 1:55. Obviously, we have some time to kill, but better early than late! We eat, talk and I do some reading. Time actually goes fairly quickly. Around 1:45 we go to check in and the worker tells us since we have carry ons, we don't need to check in, good to know now. As we walk away he yells gate 40. Awesome, we know before everyone. We head through security and sure enough, Louise gets her liquids tested again. Then the real waiting game begins as we see our 3:55 flight had been delayed until 5. Not ideal, but not the end of the world. The flight goes smoothly and we land around 8:45. After getting through everything we need to catch a bus to the train station. Well, next bus is at 9:50. At about 10:30 we get there and take the metro to find our hostel. After about an hour we find some people looking for it as well and we quickly find it. We go to check in and they only take cash. Great, we fork over too much money. He takes us to our 6 person room (there were 8 beds?) and explains that there is no key because our room don't lock and we only have to buzz to get in. Sketchy right? The sheets look clean after a thorough inspection. Luckily, we have free wifi. Oh wait, it won't work. But they have desktops so Lyn and I go to send the typical "we are alive message". The keys on the keyboard were moved around, oh well, not a huge deal. So Lynette makes friends with some girls and we aren't as sketched. The bathrooms…well, two are purely cold water. We're told about another one and that works well but we don't shower unless someone else is with us in the room. That's why I love my friends. Louise and I come back to find some randies and they're American and seem nice. We're all laying down as one of the girls goes to brush her teeth. At the same time, some guy is about to walk in out room because he thinks it's the bathroom…liar. Anyways we slept through the night and all woke up the next morning.
