Went to the war memorial where they were holding the Rememberance Day today. There were huge crouds and aot of soldiers around in their uniforms. As always I found it pretty emotional.
We then took a stoll to the War museum, which we both felt fitting for the day. The building was pretty impressive as it had morse code on one side of the building!
There was so much to see and it mainly focused on Canada's involvement in the wars. I found World War I, II and the Nuclear wars the most interesting. It was refreshing to see not just the land army, but the Navy and Aviator sections too.
I was amazed to find that someone had salvedged the decorative nose parts of some of the war planes - I couldn't believe that they were apparently going for scrap metal! I've always wanted to see some of these and was amazed to find around 10 hanging up in a corridoor!
The museum also had on exhibit Hitlers actual black mercedes limousine Parade car - complete with a shattered window, no doubt a gun shot! This was really amazing to see!
I really enjoyed this museum - well worth the visit!
We then ended up doing the Hostel Jail tour, where we paid to take a tour around parts of the old jail, seeing the gallows, cells and courtyard. I couldn't even outstretch my arms in some of the cells they were that small! Pretty interesting and very eery!
