I am writing this blog about Venice a day late. We were in Venice on Monday and today we are in Interlaken, Switzerland.
FYI...the keyboards are strange here and there isnt an exclamation point or an apostrophe...so bear with me :)
Venice is a citz built entirely on water. There are a couple main canals, little `rivers` and a couple of streets in the main city. We took the train to Venice yesterday and headed straight for the Rialto Bridge. That is a famous bridge in Venice....around the bridge is a lot of shopping and great restaurants. We checked out the shops and bought a few things. The big thing to buz in Venice is Murano glass....that is glass that is made on an island next to Venice.
After the shopping we headed for the St. Marks Piazza...(I think that is the name). If you have seen the movie Just Married it is the scene where they are by all the pigeons. We toured St. Marks basillica there and had some gellato (ice cream). After that we just wandered around Venice.
I had to go the bathroom there...and you have to pay to use their restrooms. The price is 1 euro...which is about 1.50 dollars.
I have spent a lot of my money on water this trip. We grab food from grocery stores and try to eat cheap.
In Italy everyone was very thin. Nothing like America.
Last night we took a night train to Interlaken. The night train was pretty interesting. We had a 6 bed couchette...which means we had a tiny room with 6 bunk bed (3 beds high). It actually wast too bad...the onlz bad part was waiting in the train station until 12:30 because there were some creepy people there. We made it safely to Interlaken this morning and they even served us breakfast on the train.
We are in Interlaken now. It is beautiful. Look at pictures of it online. $
I really wish I could use the exclamation point.
Bye.
Love Kelly.
