Sorry it's been so long since the last one! I had spent a few weeks job hunting at all hours of the day so there wasn't much to report back on. apart from going to Australia Zoo on Easter Monday which was a great day apart from it peeing it down all day - I've tried so hard to get my feet clean after wearing flip-flops all the time but by the end of that day they were sparkling and looked like I had spent 10 hours in the bath! I got to hug a koala (yay!) see some crocodiles being fed - Steve Irwin's wife does now does it there with a couple of other guys, I didn't realise before I went but Mr and Mrs Irwin bought the Zoo a few years ago so Steve used to all the croc tricks there, they had a video up of him doing lots of it - and saw lots of other native Oz ceatures.
I've finally got a job (thank god!) and started last Monday. It's really hard to find work in Australia, there are so many backpackers trying to find something so I'm glad the numerous phone calls and sending my CV off to hundreds of places has paid off. It's just outside of Brisbane city centre, in a suburb called Woolloongabba but it's really easy to get the train and is only a 10/15 min walk from the station. I'm working for a company called Tatts Group - they are involved with gambling eg lottery, slot machines, horse racing, footy games and all the rest - as a Finance Officer until the end of September. I've also found somewhere to live! It's in the city centre and I'm sharing a room with a Canadian girl called Catherine, although having spent the last 4 or 5 years living in Ireland her accent is pretty strange! She's really lovely though and sharing a room means it's cheaper rent so in theory I'll be able to save lots more money. It's a really nice place with amazing views (will make sure I get some photos up) as it's on the 42nd floor! There are some shared facilities to use on the 2nd and 5th floors - a bbq and pool area, a gym and a lap pool. The guy that leases the place and is in the main bedroom, Ronan, he's 25 and from Ireland, and seems pretty laidback and friendly which is good too. Can't actually beleive I'm going to be spending the next 5 months living there it's so nice!!! I moved in last Sunday which was well timed for starting work the next day, I can't have imagined trying to go to work living out of a hostel with people coming and going at all hours of the day and night.
Will update more later.......
