Hello!
So, one week down and I still haven't adjusted to the heat over here! I feel like I'm turning into a live bottle of sun tan lotion with the constant battle against getting burnt but the sunshine is very lovely of course! And I'm not burnt
Done lots of sight seeing this first week: Sydney Harbour Bridge, the opera house, Palm Beach (where Home and Away is filmed) although that was more of an afternoon lazing on the beach (hope you are all enjoying your days at work!). Tried my best at surfing on Friday and failed miserably, it's so tiring, good exercise though and the view of our instructor Zan was much better than any gym. Went to the Blue Mountains on Saturday which involved a LOT of walking and again was very tiring but not half as bad as the Samaria Gorge - Chrissy and Rob will know exactly what I mean!! Still feeling it in my legs this morn. Very picturesque, will get some more photos up. The beaches here are very nice, as is the water: it's quite cold but very refreshing and very clear. Have tried lots of new food including kangaroo which was delicious! Is a bit like lamb but isn't fatty (only 2% apparently!) and tastes different, can't really explain sorry I'm rubbish. Tried a few different fish too - Barramundi and Calamari - and so far haven't had anything that I don't like. There's lots of stuff going on at the hostel in the evenings for cheap or even free dinner, I will miss that after Wednesday, hopefully the hostel in Brisbane will be just as great.
Have made a couple of friends so far. My room mate Francesca is lovely, she's from Italy and most of the organised trips this week we have both been on, we are both looking for work but if we end up in different areas of Oz then we're going to meet up in a couple of months when we are both on the move. I have myself a little travel buddy yay!
Looking forward to Brisbane and meeting up with Nai, and V fest on Sunday woooo!
Miss you all lots of course! But not enough to come home yet.....! Hopefully will have a job soon and will update you all on my adventures in Brisbane next week.
Oh yeh, hostel is spider free, hurrah! xxxxx
Hostel: G'day Backpackers
Stay: 16th - 25th March
Rating: 6.5 / 10
Comments: Was ok, not hideously dirty but never really felt clean. Cockroaches in the courtyard but I guess these can't be helped in a tropical climate. Tramps on the corner at the end of the road and the hookers outside the hostel if I came back late enough added to the charm!! Staff were really friendly though, as were most of the residents.
