It's Sunday night & we're continuing our trip up Hwy 1 on the CA coast. We drove 252 twisty, curvy, winding miles today. There were farms with fields of strawberries & artichokes, & green pastures with fat cattle. Robert loved seeing all that green grass.
We've stopped tonight @ Fort Ross Lodge, Fort Ross. We have been really lucky in the places we've stayed since we're going 'pot luck'.
We left early this morning & drove to Monterey & visited Cannery Row & Fisherman's Wharf. Robert really lucked out on that because most the shops were closed! Then we headed to San Fran where Robert needed a paper sack to hyperventilate because there was so much traffic & I was navigating (his left is not my left).
I have always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge & I did today! It was just as great as I had hoped! We had a slight brush with a group of the Code Pink Amazons demonstrating for PEACE NOW on the bridge. I guess we couldn't make it through San Fran without encountering some kind of weirdness. We can also breathe easier because we got out of there before the big earthquake hit.
We're heading on up Hwy 1 to see the amazing redwoods tomorrow.
Hope all's well with you & yours.
Kathleen
Happy Birthday Marianne!

Sorry Ma & Pops, no tee time available @ Pebble Beach!

Kate Haha mom that's funny! Sounds like a blast:)
Melinda Love it! You guys have been so many places already! Take some good pics in the Redwoods! I can't believe We have never been there!! My dad nearly passed out several times in Californa with the traffic, it is so crazy. Hope that green grass makes an appearance in Texas sometime again soon!
Meredith There was an earthquake?!?! You should come home right now.
Marianne Thank you Dadoo! Had a great day. The pictures are wonderful. We feel like we're there with you and Robert. Have a safe trip.
Session Yuk, Code Pink Communist/Socialist welcomed you to the Golden Gate Bridge!!! Glad to hear there are green pastures and fat cows up in NorCal. Have fun!
Margaret I've been in a car with you "helping" Dad. Ouch! :) I guess you got a little taste of San Fran with the demonstrators
